Transition Law is a Paralegal law firm.
A Paralegal law firm is a legal services business that provides legal assistance and support services to the public. We are Legal professionals but we are not solicitors or barristers. We are qualified in Law and experienced in giving clients advice in the areas of Law in which we practice.
Under the Legal Services Act 2007, certain legal activities in England and Wales are “reserved activities” and may only be carried out by authorised and regulated persons such as solicitors or barristers. These include activities such as conducting litigation, exercising rights of audience in court, reserved instrument activities relating to conveyancing, probate activities, notarial activities and the administration of oaths.
Our firm operates lawfully and transparently within this statutory framework. We do not undertake reserved legal activities and therefore do not require authorisation by the Solicitors Regulation Authority or another approved legal regulator. Instead, we provide non-reserved legal services, including legal drafting, compliance support, advisory work, policy preparation, documentation assistance, research and general legal support services.
Although there is currently no statutory regulator specifically governing paralegals in England and Wales, professional bodies and voluntary membership organisations exist to promote standards and professionalism within the sector.
For a number of years, we were members of the Institute of Paralegals, one of the longest established professional bodies for paralegals in the UK. Following the acquisition of the Institute of Paralegals by CILEX in 2024, we elected to move our membership to The Paralegal Society, an independent professional organisation supporting the paralegal profession and promoting high standards of practice and ethical conduct.
The Paralegal Society is a ‘framework organisation’ which sets standards of professional behaviour and publishes a Code of Conduct but they do not regulate their members activity. They only operate Online and do not provide recommendations or references for members.
Our approach is founded upon transparency, professionalism and operating strictly within the legal framework established by the Legal Services Act 2007.
Transition Law carries full professional indemnity insurance for all of its activities.
